London 2012


As it is summer, the whole world is looking forward to one of the biggest sport events in the world – the Olympic Games in London 2012, officially known as The Games of the XXX Olympiad. Around 10,500 athletes representing 204 nations and territories are competing in 302 events covering 26 sports in total.

London games will make the city the first city to officially host the modern Olympic three times, since 1948, 1998 and 2012. It won the right to stage the 2012 Olympics after competing against strong bids from New York, Madrid, Paris and Moscow. The motto of this year's Olympic Games is "Inspire a Generation".

During the Games, events will take place at a variety of venues across London and outside London. Some of London's most iconic venues, such as Horse Guards Parade, Wimbledon, Wembley Stadium, Lords, Regent's Park and Hyde Park will have the honour of being turned into host venues for the Olympics. Also, London will have some fantastic new sporting venues such as: the VeloPark, Aquatics Centre, Basketball Arena, and of course, the Olympic Stadium.

With plenty of excitement and a marvelous atmosphere, the Olympic Games will bring thousands of visitors to London and in general to UK. During this period the transport system will be extremely busy. So, if you plan to go to a London 2012 sports event or ceremony it's very important to plan and book your journey well in advance.

Therefore, starting with 27 July 2012 the eyes of the world will be on London Olympic Games, which is expected to be a tremendous success for the whole of London and the best Games ever.
